Join Us for the Harvest Fair Awards Night Gala

The Harvest Fair Awards Night Gala is the finale of Sonoma County Harvest Fair’s annual Wine Competition, the largest regional wine competition in the nation. All wineries entering the 1000+ Sonoma County wines in the Fair pour wine at the Awards Night Gala.

Also featured at the Awards Night Gala are the foods entered in the Professional Food Competition by local restaurants, professional chefs, caterers, bakers and deli’s.

All medal winners are announced at Harvest Fair. Each attendee will take home an Awards Booklet listing all medal winning wines and foods – and excellent resource for wine buying for the upcoming year.

Professional Wine Awards

More than 1000 wines using Sonoma County Grapes are entered annually in Sonoma County Fair’s Professional Wine Competition. This competition is the largest regional wine competition in the nation. Judges -- 25 of them -- come from across the US, and from other countries to sit on a judging panel in three days of blind tastings. Their top selections are announced at the Annual Awards Night Gala.

Professional Food Awards

Annually Sonoma County’s restaurants, chefs, caterers, bakers and deli’s enter the Harvest Fair’s Professional Foods Competition. In 2008 255 foods were entered and 32 were selected as Gold Medal Winners. Twenty other companies were singled out for special awards: Best of Show or Sweepstakes in their class or special category.

Special Honorees

In addition to honoring the best food and wine produced with county products, the Harvest Fair offers special recognition to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the wine and food industry, and agriculture in Sonoma County. In 2010 those winners are Richard Kunde for his Lifetime Contribution to Agriculture, Paul Kelley honored for being a Friend of Sonoma County Agriculture, Brett Munselle selected as the Harvest Fair’s Outstanding Young Farmer, and John Azevedo, named Outstanding Young Person In Agri-Business.
